SERVICE TECHNICIAN:

Job Summary:
The Service Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Communicate with Service Writers to obtain needed parts and customer approvals
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs, if authorized by customer
  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by customer
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required
  • Notify Service Writers immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed or if repairs can not be completed within the time promised
  • Properly document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order
  • Road-test vehicles to check work performed
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are returned to them as clean as they were prior to being serviced
  • Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins
  • Attend factory sponsored training classes
  • Keep shop area neat, clean and be able to account for all shop owned tools at all times
  • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the company’s vision, mission and values in all interactions with customers, co-workers and suppliers
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedure and safety standards
  • Follow company safety procedures to avoid exposure to fumes, dirt and hash chemicals

Qualifications:
  • ASE Master Certification
  • At least 3 years prior verifiable experience as service technician
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Must meet company’s requirements for employment
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
  • General mechanical skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
  • Professional appearance
  • Manual dexterity, good judgment and ability to operate power and hand tools and other types of machinery safely

SERVICE ADVISOR:

Job Summary:
The Service Advisor is responsible for building a loyal clientele and maintaining service records. Additionally, they must satisfy service concerns of all customers, ensure that service is performed at the highest level.  They must operate the department profitably, while maintaining the highest level of ethics.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining the highest Customer Service Index (CSI) rating from customers by handling customer complaints immediately and according to company policy.
  • Greeting customers, scheduling service appointments and receiving vehicle information.
  • Listening to requests of the service desired and clearly explaining information on the repair order.
  • Referring the technician to the customer and/or test-driving the vehicle to confirm source(s) of service repairs.
  • Estimating the cost and time needed to do the repair, taking into account the customer’s schedule.
  • Ordering parts from suppliers and dealerships, periodically checking on the delivery status and keeping the technicians advised of estimated arrival times.
  • Periodically checking on the progress of the vehicle during servicing and contacting the customer when technicians discover additional problems; getting customer approval to do additional work and explaining the work performed and the charges being billed.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills in order to greet customers, answer phones and address their concerns and relay information to technicians.
  • Previous verifiable sales experience as a Service Advsior or related field.
  • Highly organized and be able to work methodically to write estimates and work orders
  • Strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees and vendors. Maintain the profitability of the shop while ethically controlling expenses and maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of vehicle repairs and parts.  ASE Certification is preferred.
  • Ability to type 45 wpm.
  • Proficiency in estimating and parts ordering software.

Education Requirements

  • ASE Certification. 
  • Some post-secondary education.
  • A strong understanding of automotive technology is required.
